Rewinding & Rebuilding Electric Motors & Generators Since 1959

About E & L Electric

Our Heritage

E & L Electric was founded in 1959 by husband-and-wife team Everett and Emma Lee Fitch. Their journey began in Los Angeles, where Everett honed his skills as a motor winder at Larsen Hoag from 1950-1961. Emma equally talented, joined him at Larsen Hoag in 1957. Despite her impressive skills and speed, Emma was paid half of what Everett earned and after being denied a well-deserved raise, Emma decided to strike out on her own, thus E & L Electric was born.

Our Journey

Starting in a small garage in South Gate, CA, E & L Electric quickly grew, moving first to a 1,000 square foot building and then to a 3,000 square foot facility. Emma affectionately known as “Lee,” dedicated her time to training countless motor winders, many of whom are still thriving in the industry, including two who remain with us today. Both Emma and Everett were active members of the Electrical Apparatus Service Association (EASA®), contributing significantly to the local community.

Our Legacy

Emma’s passion for her work was unparalleled and she continued to work tirelessly until her passing in 1993. In 1998, E & L Electric Motors moved to Santa Fe Springs, where the legacy of hard work and dedication continued under the leadership of their grandson, Michael Fitch and his son Adam Fitch.

Our Present and Future

What began as a contract shop primarily winding armatures for motor shops across the United States has evolved into a full-service motor and generator repair shop servicing numerous industries such as energy, oil, and the port of Long Beach. Today, we boast some of the finest testing and processing equipment available, ensuring top-notch service for our customers. In November 2023, we expanded our operations by acquiring a 15,000 square foot building on an acre of land next door. This new facility houses our dedicated mechanical department, while our existing 10,000 square foot building now serves as our dedicated rewind and balance department which also houses a fully equipped machine shop.

Our Commitment

E & L Electric Motors is committed to continuous improvements, always looking for ways to better serve our customers’ needs. Our investment in state-of-the-art equipment and the ongoing training of our crew reflects our dedication to excellence.

Thank you for being a part of our journey. We look forward to continuing to serve you with the same passion and commitment that Everett and Emma instilled in our company over six decades ago.
